She’s got style, charisma, and an eye for “what looks good”. Ms. Waikeena Robinson, owner of Washington DC’s premiere modeling agency, The Jolie Agency, has entered the world of fashion determined to leave her mark in the industry. And from all accounts, she’s definitely on the right track. From the runway to commercials, she’s making heads turn and is quickly being recognized as one the East Coast’s rising stars in the business.
Ms. Robinson began her career in fashion back in 1994 as a model scout for Flair Communications. The company’s owner quickly recognized her talents. Just a year and a half after her arrival, Ms. Robinson was promoted to Field Manager. In this position, she was responsible for developing campaigns geared towards discovering fresh, new faces for advertising and marketing campaigns for her clients. Her client roster included: Kool Cigarettes, Hype Hair Magazine, Mazda International, Sally’s Beauty Supply, CBS Radio and Dillard’s Department Store.
Ms. Robinson has also worked as a Creative Assistant in the advertising department of New Star Productions, a Washington, DC based ad agency.
After honing her skills in these positions, Ms. Robinson decided that it was time for her to step out on her own to see if she had what it took to stand with the best in this competitive industry. Her clients responded with an emphatic yes! In 1999, she created Jolie Entertainment, a modeling agency that provides its clients with high-quality professional models for promotional events, print ads, commercials, and fashion shows. In 2010, she changed the name to The Jolie Agency. Her company’s success has been a direct result of her ability to gauge the ever-changing entertainment and fashion industries, along with being able to successfully meet the needs of her clients. To date, some of her clients are: Jim Beam, Events DC, Heineken Beer, AV Imports, Alize Liquors, Pose and Zuri Magazine, Def Jam Records, Washington DC’s WHUR 96.3, and the Black Family Reunion.
Ms. Robinson’s goal is to set the stage for tomorrow’s models and provide them with an alternative to the, often times, unrealistic demands of the fashion/modeling capitals: New York City and Los Angeles. Through her creative vision and her originality, she’s destined to see her name in the spotlight as a leader in the field.
